Joseph had a gift for trying to share his knowledge on health and his extensive research on vitamins and their significant effects.
He couldn't wait to share these with others to help assist people in better coping with the burdens of their day-to-day lives.
Here's how Joseph pushed a healthy dose of supplements into Chapter 7 Bankruptcy:
You don't think I can get there, do you?
Watch!
Vitamin C was the first vitamin synthesized, and became the rock star of the (brand new) vitamin industry right off the bat. It prevented and cured scurvy, which has been the scourge of mankind since we came down out of the trees (in the trees, we ate enough fruit and leaves and bark that Vitamin C was not a problem).
Once down from the trees, Vitamin C deficiency disease (scurvy) was a problem. It killed more folks than most wars, and made England into Lord of the Oceans (once England started giving a daily shot of lime juice to its sailors, it could make long-distance voyages and not lose any crew members; its competitor nations weren't so lucky or smart- and just so you know, a long voyage could kill the majority of the crew with scurvy, which is surprisingly fast-acting).
Humans don't manufacture their own Vitamin C, a chemical issue shared with great apes, fruit bats and guinea pigs. And you can give a guinea pig heart disease exactly like a humans by the simple expedient of cutting off its dietary supply of vitamin c. And you can cure the heart disease in a guinea pig by giving back its vitamin C!
And there's been an epidemic of heart disease among great apes in zoos since their ration of vitamin c went down from five grams a day.
Note: no, I'm not making this up. But do your own internet research. Just google: gorilla heart attack epidemic Vitamin C.
Bottom line: humans in the top quartile for vitamin c blood levels live about nine years longer, on average, than humans in the bottom quartile. Take a look at the study published in the Lancet.
Selenium, in studies at the University of Arizona Medical School, in doses of 200 micrograms daily, cut the frequency of most cancers by about 50%! The study was designed to see if Selenium would reduce skin cancer, and the answer was no. On the other hand, it had the magical cut-in-half effect on cancers ranging from breast to prostate to lung.
And Vitamin D seems to give you about three years more on the right side of the grass. It's not Vitamin C, but still, not bad. Apparently, when folks were hunter-gatherers, they were in the sun more frequently, and in places closer to the equator. Hence, they produced more Vitamin D, and we're designed to have a lot of Vitamin D floating around in our bodies.
Now, we wear clothes that cover most of our surface area, and stay inside buildings all day, so we produce very little Vitamin D indeed. Most Americans are Vitamin D deficient, so some supplementation is apparently very helpful for processes as diverse as maintaining strong bones and avoiding many cancers. And living longer.
How could all this POSSIBLY relate to bankruptcy law?
Glad you asked.
Here it comes: if you file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in Phoenix, Arizona, your estate includes any testamentary monies you become eligible to receive within about six months of the filing (see 11 USC 541, Property of the Estate).
So if you're contemplating filing a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Petition in Phoenix, Arizona, or anywhere else, for that matter, and you're lucky enough to have an Uncle Gotrocks who is in poor health, you DO NOT want him to go to his reward within six months of your Chapter 7 Petition.
So make sure you send him a big supply of Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Selenium several months prior to your filing, to keep him healthy until AFTER you've passed the six months mark.
You see? I told you I could get there.
